After the trauma of selling one home and buying another, planning the move can be just as stressful - it need not be!

By being here and reading this you are already on the right track to a smooth move.

On this page we have outlined a few points to aid in the planning of your move.
By discussing these and any queries you may have with us we can make sure we know what is required to get the job done with care and consideration.

Moving home checklist

There are so many things to consider when moving home and we're here to make it as easy as possible. Download this checklist, print it out and put it somewhere visible for a handy reference guide.

Planning the move

The Date
Arrange this as far ahead as possible to ensure availability and avoid cancellations and postponements that could be costly!

The New Home
A map showing your new address and all contact details, especially a telephone number are always helpful.

Who To Tell
Apart from friends and relatives there are a lot of people who will need to know your new address. See our checklist for a full list.

Mains Services
Removers are not allowed to tamper with mains services, so make arrangements with gas/electricity suppliers well in advance.

Deep Freezers
Run down your food stocks. Although every care is taken, removers are not responsible for freezer contents.

Carpets/Curtains
We will take down curtains and blinds with prior arrangement but will not be able to put them back up again or lay fitted carpets.

System Furniture
In theory you are supposed to be able to dismantle and re-assemble most system furniture easily but in practice they never go together as well again. We can move them complete but joints may loosen.

Packing
How much we pack for you is all dependant on our quote and your requirements. If you are paying for the complete service then leave all packing to us.

Insurance
All our works are underwritten against risk but to be sure we have you fully covered with the right valuation, we will need you to tell us. Ensure you complete the request note on page 2 of our quotation when accepting!

Special Attention
If you are concerned about special items such as plants, fine art, collections or antiques then please discuss them with us well in advance and we can advise accordingly.

Before the move

Drawers
Leave drawers as they are but do not lock them. Avoid over filling drawers, sideboards and chests.

Plan
Work out where you want things to go in your new house. Drawing a plan is very helpful. Make sure someone is at the house to direct removers where to go.

Parking
If there are restrictions at either property we need to know about them. One removal vehicle will require about 15 metres - 50 feet of allocated space.

If you need us to arrange local parking bay suspensions with local authorities then please advise as we normally need 10 working days for applications.

Flats
You will need priority of the lift! If the lift is small or non-existent then we will need notifying in advance.

Unloading
We will not have seen your new house, so we will need notifying of any hazards such as poor access, small doorways or spiral staircases etc.

Children & Pets
It is a very busy day and with open access for both the collection and delivery of your furniture and effects. For enhanced safety, where possible, have family and/or friends take care of the children and pets until our work is done.

Checking Out
You can download and print our check list. Put this somewhere prominent and before your moving day make sure you tick of all that needs doing from the list.
And finally, before leaving the house, check all rooms and make sure you have left nothing behind.
